Sarah Sumner Hayden

Here we have a pair of cousins marrying, resulting in Lydia Townsend and Lawrence Copeland appearing twice in the tree.

My father's friend George Whiting was able to join the Mayflower Society. My father could never resist trying to keep up with George, but never managed to find a Mayflower ancestor. My sister married another member of The Society, and was until recently the only one in her household who didn't descend from the Mayflower.

So I was hoping these two would show up!  Now Marianne and Michael Long can trace back to John and Priscilla from both sides.

Luther Hayden stands at the cross of two of the more interesting lines.  Going up and to the right is an all male line of the Hayden family, which has its own page.  Going down and to the right is a Mayflower connection.

Sarah's ancestors follow a slightly different pattern from the other South Shore trees. On the other trees, one generally sees a westward drift as time progresses, with people moving from England to coastal towns to slightly inland.

In Sarah's tree you can see several generations living in one area before moving on.

Here we have a sister-brother pair -- Sarah and Joseph Dunbar -- marrying a brother-sister pair -- Benjamin and Christian Gardner. Two of their children -- Robert Gardner and Sarah Dunbar -- then married to produce Robert Gardner. Cousins marrying... on both sides.
